(15 years old and up) - Your PADI Open Water certification is your passport to dive anywhere in the world. Its a very fun course in which we will teach you the fundamentals to be a safe and skilled diver.
You will be begin the course by taking home the Padi Open Water Manual and materials. At your leisure, you will read the five chapters and answer some review questions. Before making our first dives together we will go over the homework, discuss any questions and key points, then take five short but informative quizzes.
Next, we will begin the in water training; focusing on equipment, safe dive practices, and the skills that will help make your first dive trip an amazing experience. Depending on your preference and needs, this can all be accomplished in a two day or three day course. The training dives are conducted in a very comfortable private Olympic size pool located on Chicago's Northwest side. We'll make our open water dives at Haigh Dive Quarry in Kankakee, located about an hour from downtown. Haigh is a great place for recreational local diving and is the preferred place for dive training in the Chicago-land area.
The course fee is $425.00 (this includes all required PADI materials). Students will need their own mask, fins and snorkel. We have an excellent selection at the dive shop to choose from.
JUNIOR OPEN WATER
(10 to 15 years of age) - Kids love to dive and get so much from the experience. Also, diving can be an incredibly unique and rewarding family activity. Kids 10 to 15 are qualified to dive when accompanied by another certified diver of legal age. The course, required materials, and course fee are the same as the above Open Water class. Junior Open Water Divers are limited to a depth of 40 feet.
OPEN WATER REFERRALS
- Often, new divers will with vacation plans want to complete the book and pool
portions here at home then finish the four open water dives at their
destination. We will have you completely ready for your open water dives on
vacation.
Referral Course Fee: $230 including required materials. Students will need their own mask, fins and snorkel. We have an excellent selection at the dive shop to choose from.
